People often come to see a nutritionist after many years of health problems, with much frustration and worry. You may have spent time trying different diets, dealing with chronic digestive issues, hormonal issues, tiredness, exhaustion, mental health issues, where medications or other specialists just don't seem to help.
Because I'm not limited to a 10 minute appointment we can take time to explore what is really going on for you. This allows me to really analyse what is happening and form a 'hypothesis' for what I think is going on. From this I create an individual plan based on your life and circumstances so it can really work for you and answer your needs.
My aim is to help you recover, help you lose weight and keep it off, regain control of your energy, your hormones and overall health. Your plan doesn't have to be complicated. In fact I have found that it's the simple changes which often have the largest impact.
Step 1 Questionnaire and diet diary
Prior to the initial consultation I will ask you to fill out a questionnaire and a diet diary so I can assess what is happening and what you really need.
This will form the basis for our initial consultation. I analyse your questionnaire and spend time preparing for your consultation.
My approach, step by step...
Step 2 Initial consultation
I take your 'health case history'. We chat through your questionnaire. This is where I ask you specific questions covering your present and past health history, your family health history, sleep, lifestyle, work life and current dietary habits in order to understand what's happened to you and your body.
By looking at all these aspects I aim to identify the ‘root’ cause of your health issues. This is important for your recovery and maintaining health in the long term.
We agree your goals, what your plan will contain and how long it may take to restore your health.
This initial consultation usually lasts up to an hour.
Step 3 Your nutritional plan
Once I have gathered all your health information I can create your personalised plan, this will include:
Diet changes: This involves choosing the right foods for you that your body can understand and use. I will provide information of what foods to include and avoid based on your lifestyle, food likes and dislikes.
Supplemental support: As part of your plan I may recommend a supplement programme to aid your bodies healing capacity and correct imbalances. Supplements can really help to aid the process so your body can start to heal quicker. I partner with trusted suppliers and distributors who provide high quality supplements to support my programmes (full details on how to purchase will be given as part of your plan).
Lifestyle changes: I will also include lifestyle suggestions such as certain forms of relaxation (if necessary) and adding fitness suggestions that suit your desires and lifestyle. I won't ask you to join a gym if you don't want to or can't manage it.
We then choose and decide together which programme (optional) will suit you best to get the results you need.
We decide these things together. I don't want to overwhelm you. I want you to be enthusiastic about the changes so they are doable and you can commit, that way you can achieve the best possible results and outcome for you.
Step 4 Testing and other specialists
If I feel it's required I will suggest specific testing. Private testing is more comprehensive than the tests performed by your GP and gives me a lot of information. It acts as a detailed snapshot into your health status right now. I always aim to work alongside your GP or any other practitioner involved in your health care. I may also refer you to other specialists if I feel they can help you further so you get the best possible results for your health.
A single private consultation - 1 hour (includes personalised nutritional plan): €180
Single follow up consultation - 45 minutes: €75
I spend time preparing for your consultation, researching and writing your tailored plan and the analysis and interpretation of any GP or private test results. This allows me to provide safe, evidence-based and highly effective advice and recommendations. My fees reflect the work that goes into your care.
These programmes are suited to those of you who require more support with your plan to allow you to reach your goals with the best possible outcome and not give up. My longer programmes are for those of you who are experiencing more debilitating symptoms or have a chronic health condition, and would like more comprehensive support. (We can also decide on a programme together at the initial consultation).
Your programme will consist of:

The programme fees include time to research your case, evolve your nutritional plan as we progress, prepare for our catch up calls, and email access for additional support.
My fees and packages are for consultations only. Testing and health supplements are additional and not included in the consultation or programme prices but are discussed during your consultation. Payments to be made by BACS transfer.
Initial consultations can be held in person at my clinic, via zoom or skype or phone call. Catch up calls can be via zoom, skype or phone call.

Additional follow up consultations or catch up calls are available if required after completion of a programme.
Laboratory testing, eg. from blood, saliva or urine samples, can give me a lot of information regarding nutrient levels, how you metabolise various nutrients, hormone and stress hormone imbalances, blood lipid profiles, inflammatory markers, fatty acid ratios, insulin and glucose control. I don't diagnose any conditions but I can look at your test results to identify areas of weakness and help inform your health picture. Nutritional therapy is complimentary, which allows me to support you with any recommendations given by your GP.
Functional testing looks at the functioning capability of your body. For example a stool test could indicate digestive function: digestion, absorption, bacterial balance, yeast, and parasites and can help identify underlying causes to your weight gain and other symptoms. Functional biochemical tests can also indicate enzyme function which can be used to ascertain specific needs allowing me to really tailor your programme.
Our genetics contribute to our differences. Eye and hair colour are genetic differences that we can see. But there are also differences that aren't so obvious to us such as how we metabolise nutrients and how we deal with toxins. Our genes interact with our environment in our own unique way. How our genes are expressed and how they function can be modified by diet and lifestyle. Genetic testing can indicate your increased needs for certain nutrients, areas of biochemical weaknesses as well as food intolerances and sensitivities.
As a genetic nutritionist I am trained in interpreting and evaluating DNA test data. I look at relevant genes that have been shown in scientific studies to be modifiable via nutrition and lifestyle.
